The church does not need more Christians who borrow their convictions from the culture, shape their beliefs around popular opinion, and then search for a verse to support what they have already decided.
We need believers whose minds, consciences, homes, work, relationships, worship, and public witness are governed by the Word of God. Scripture is not merely a book we consult for comfort or religious instruction. It is the final authority by which every thought, desire, doctrine, and decision must be judged.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
A Christian cannot divide life into sacred and ordinary parts. Christ does not rule only over Sunday worship, prayer, and Bible reading. He rules over how we speak, spend, work, suffer, vote, forgive, marry, raise children, use our bodies, and respond when obedience becomes costly.
“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17).
This is what it means to live before the face of God. We live with the settled knowledge that nothing is hidden from Him. Every private thought, secret habit, public action, and hidden motive stands open before His eyes.
“There is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” (Hebrews 4:13).
The courage the church needs will not come from stronger personalities, louder platforms, political influence, or confidence in ourselves. It will come from minds renewed by Scripture and hearts that fear God more than men.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
The world is discipling people every day. It teaches us what to love, what to hate, what to celebrate, and what to call evil. Unless the Word of God is shaping us more deeply than the world, we will eventually speak its language, adopt its values, and still imagine that we are following Christ.
We do not need Christians who merely know verses. We need Christians who bow before them.
To live Coram Deo is to live every moment under the authority of God, before the eyes of God, for the glory of God.
